Week 3

I’m beginning the third week of my residency. So far I have produced 12 pieces, out of the 18-20 that I have set as a goal for myself. This week I’ll be drawing Zed, the owner of Tres Quejos, The Lover’s Rock, and a few more odd images from the Alentejo. I’m running out of clean wax, though, which means that I’ll have to go purchase some kind of wire-mesh net for clarifying pollen-laden beeswax.
Today I’ll begin hanging pieces in the hall of SUPA, which will be really fun.

Time is flying by here- the first night of my exhibition is on the 26th, and just five days later I will be packing up and heading to Lisbon for a week.

When I return to Omaha, I’ll be in a group show with my rad friend Evan Crown. It was set up by Brooke Masek, one of the coolest people I know. That starts on August 10th, I believe.

I’m going to put up a bunch of photos, but they’ll probably be the last for a while, as I am all work right now, trying to have everything done in time for the show. It’s going to be pretty small, but really fun, hopefully.

A Ilha Residency

This is where I am documenting my stay with the A Ilha Artist in Residency Program. Here you will find photographs and updates about my stay in S. Pedro Corval, Portugal. I hope that you enjoy it! I am having the time of my life here.

First Post-

Today is the second official day of my one month residency. I got in a little early, and while I could have stayed with an incredible host, Alexander, in Madrid, I decided to book it to Evora.

Tomorrow I will be once again heading to Evora to acquire art supplies that I couldn’t bring with me overseas- raw pigments, oils, and a number of heavy heating elements.
After that I get to head to Mora, where I am lucky enough to receive a tour of a bee farm (I’ll also get a little fresh beeswax for painting).

I’ve been exploring the perimeter of gorgeous S Pedro de Corval, and I’ll put up photos as I have time.

I’m really excited. This is such an awe-inspiring opportunity, and I am so grateful for the chance to experience this beautiful, inspiring paradise.
